Smile Ubuntu and Xubuntu at the same time?

I was just watching a video on youtube and it showed a screen switching from ubuntu to kubuntu and i was wondering if this is possible and if so, how i can go about doing it. I have Ubuntu Karmic 9.10, Windows 7, and Xubuntu 9.10 on my laptop, so can i do this with Ubuntu and Xubuntu?

He is probably using virtualbox to run either ubuntu or kubuntu and has it on full screen mode and shortkeyed the flipping of the desktop cube. Another thing why would you want Xubuntu and Ubuntu on one laptop seems kinda of pointless to me. Xubuntu is just a ligthweight version of Ubuntu because it uses a lighter desktop environment. Stick with Gnome it rocks.
