[ubuntu] Re: Display Crash in Chrome Web Store

I'm running into the same problem as you guys. Everything is going along fine, suddenly Chrome locks up for a few seconds and my screen goes black. I have not found a keystroke combination to either...
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Was there a problem with the last 10.04 update?

Every time I've done that has been a waste of time. Here's how it goes. I spend my time filling out a bug report and gathering information. Don't hear anything for weeks. Then the Ubuntu...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Was there a problem with the last 10.04 update?

Looks like I'm not the only one having problems:

    http://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/efuhm/anyone_else_running_into_problems_on_ubuntu_after/

I had to power down my machine and unplug it...
  4. [ubuntu] Re: Was there a problem with the last 10.04 update?

The menu option is there but it's greyed out. And I can't tell what I'm forcing. The package manager doesn't seem to list out the updates to roll back. It's just showing me individual applications....
  5. [ubuntu] Was there a problem with the last 10.04 update?

Ever since the last round of updates on Lucid my system performance has been dismal. Chrome performance has tanked, internet connection is now sketchy where it flew a couple days ago.

    Any way...
  6. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 on Dell Latitude D610 - Sweet

Can you describe the touchpad problem in more detail? Mine seemed to jump around a lot at first, then I realized that the right side of the touchpad is set up for scrolling (or zooming on Google...
  7. [SOLVED] Re: There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'failed to connect to server'

I'm having the same problem but it just started in 10.04. Put CUPS in complain mode and restart clears it up, but yeah it's kind of a pain.

[ubuntu] Re: 10.04 install fails at disk partition

Figured it out, but it was quite the trek.

I can't just blow a 10.04 disk in and go. I have to first install 9.04, upgrade that to 9.10, then upgrade that to 10.04. Then it works.

[ubuntu] Re: 10.04 install fails at disk partition

No thanks, done that before. Here's how those usually go:

    - Get passed around to three or four different staff members.

    - Ubuntu blames another piece of software.

    - Suggests I file a bug...

[ubuntu] Re: 10.04 install fails at disk partition

I'm reinstalling 9.04 right at this minute. That install is working fine, no problems when I select Use Entire Disk. 9.04 installs without a hitch, 10.4 says something is blocking the disk. Same...

[ubuntu] 10.04 install fails at disk partition

Okay, this one is really over my head. I had 9.04 install on a dual proc home built system that was running fine until a recent update wiped out grub. Since I have all my data backed up, I decided...

    [ubuntu] No boot after update

I'm running 9.04. I ran yesterday's updates with no problems and everything worked fine all day.

This morning when I tried to boot I get the BIOS message then...nothing. Just a flashing...

[ubuntu] Re: 9.04 choking on large file operations

Here's a new wrinkle. I got a card reader and when I connect by sticking the card in the reader, it shows up in /media. If I connect the camera directly, it pops up but isn't mounted through...

[ubuntu] Re: 9.04 choking on large file operations

Specifically where I'm having problems is copying large .MOV files out of the camera. A few jpg's (about 5 megs each) it handles no problems. But when I try to copy the video files, which can be...

[ubuntu] 9.04 choking on large file operations

This is a real problem for me. Any time I'm dealing with large files or large volume of files on a USB drive, network drive and sometimes even between internal drives. File operations will simply...
  17. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 on Dell Latitude D610 - Sweet

Since you did the disk check I assume you also entered your connection strings properly.

I can connect anywhere with mine and it remembers them all. Office, home, fire station...once I set...
  18. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 on Dell Latitude D610 - Sweet

Did you download your iso and burn a disk? Did you test it with the live version first?

If you burned the iso consider the possibility of a corrupt disk image. That's happened to me more than...

  20. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 on Dell Latitude D610 - Sweet

I didn't know I had an internal mic.
  21. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 on Dell Latitude D610 - Sweet

    No on both, unfortunately.

Are those things you can test on a live install?
  22. [ubuntu] Ubuntu 9.10 on Dell Latitude D610 - Sweet

Just got done upgrading my laptop from 9.04 to 9.1 and some basic testing.

    Sweet.

Running the online update is painless if a little slow, likely due to the load on their servers.

    It's an...
  23. [ubuntu] Videos play fine in Ubuntu, won't play on XP

I'm using ffmpeg to convert h264 mov files to mpg (captured in a Canon 7D). The conversion works, the mpg files play just fine on Ubuntu. But when I try to copy them to Windows XP pro, they don't...

[ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu doesn't see sdb1?

Certainly I would agree. And you can't expect any OS to be able to immediately adapt to any cobbled together pile of hardware, most of which were designed for a different OS.

    I'm just trying to...

    [ubuntu] Ubuntu doesn't see sdb1?

Okay, the last partition issue I had ended by blowing away the Linux partition and reinstalling Ubuntu 9.04 on a larger partition. Resizing and moving just wasn't working.

    In the process, I...
